Well, I don’t know what took so long to put this on blast. The name alone is attention catching, but in the spirit of collaboration-pen pal-magic, We Are Fucking Awesome, or “WAFA” would appear to be the mother ship of visual togetherness. As we start planning new roads towards interaction + creation, this is a wonderful thing to stumble back on and be reminded of how many people there are out in the worldworld wide abyss throwing out their contributions, and coming together to try something different. The Collective consists of 13 regulars, all artists who initiate various collaborative projects, starting in whatever corner of the world they are located in. Give the site a once or thrice over, and find your favorites. Currently jiving on WAFA Zine 03 – Everything At Every Moment Is Awaiting Your Arrival. Embossed front cover + Hand-sewn Japanese stab stitch binding? Yes please.
Winner’s Press
It’s so cool to see the photos from Zinery, a show that Winner’s Press put together not too long ago. We spotted a few Crummy zines in there. Thanks WP! Go over there and check out the photos.
This is what they were doing: “We will be creating a zine installation for 2011 Southern Graphics Council International Conference, at Washington University in St. Louis’s Weitman Gallery. The intent is to fill the space with zines to create an interactive exhibition and zine making event.”
Martin Svoboda
While we finish up the collaboration with Museums Press, we thought we’d introduce our next collaborator.
Martin Svoboda emailed us early in the year and asked if he could participate in a Crummy mission. We love enthusiasm and we love Martin’s work so we were proud and excited to announce our collaboration. For now, you can view a bit more of Martin’s work at his website FUNKFU.
We’re looking forward to working with Mr. Svoboda on a cool Crummy zine. Stay tuned for more!
Parts in Motion
There’s a bunch going on in the Crummy House these days. We’ve taken on a pretty cool project that we’ll get to tell you a bit more about in the near future. For now, Jessica and I are just teaming up on the art that Matthew and Jess from Museums Press have sent us. If you haven’t checked out MP’s blog, you should.
There’s a ton of great artists on there, many of whom you may have never heard of before.
Looking forward to showing this cool new zine about food – our first overseas collaboration. We’ll also be announcing the next Crummy artist this week or early next. We are continuing our worldly collaborations with this next Crummy artist from far away.
Hungry?
That last zine was absolutely crazy fun to make and might be pretty hard to top. And there aren’t many things in this world that are better than making some killer art with good friends. Good thing our next book is all about that thing we love the most – FFFFFFFOOOOODDDDDDD!!!! The even cooler thing is we are making this zine with Matt and Jess of Museums Press and from what we see already, we’re gonna have some crazy munchie-making madness for the next couple weeks as we prepare to make a zine devoted to that stuff that makes you go mmmmmmm! (PS. Our zine launch party got rescheduled, but we have some new thoughts in mind. Stay tuned Crummy Austin Crew for some fun hangout sessions in the future.)
April 2011 – Alexandra Valenti
We are proud to announce a collaboration with Alexandra Valenti.

Alex DeSpain
Well, better late than never, yeah? We are a little behind on singing the praises of talented painter, drawer, + rap connoisseur – Crummy-friend Alex DeSpain of Portland Oregon. Earlier this month, Alex opened Shapes at MoHDI Gallery . The collection of abstract pleasantries can be seen through the month of April, so if you be of the house of the northwest, get ye to the SHAPES! Aside from the show, there are other works to be seen on Alex’s Flickr page, including some very slick, geometric Stag & Doe tattoos, and my personal favorite, The Red Panda. Seen above, is a piece from one of Alex’s more recent collections, Plans.
Museums Press
We are proud to announce our next collaboration with internet friends and outstanding, perpetual-publishing-pals, Matthew Walkerdine and Jessica Higgins of Museums Press. Matt and Jess are makers of zines and prints which feature artists from around the globe and they live across the pond in old Europa.
Oh yeah, and they are also awesome artists themselves. We feel like if they lived a little closer we’d be pretty good friends and we’d go bowling on the weekends. We’re making a zine all about food. Do you like food? Well, we do. So there.
We’re finishing up the artwork for Alexandra’s zine (which is going to blow your little minds) and finalizing the details of a launch event sometime in the near future. I know, I know, when is it going to happen? Soon, my friends. As soon as the world slows down.
Feeling
Ever feel like you aren’t getting enough Crummy House? Well, we just popped up a Facebook page to give you more in depth Crummy activity like this photo from our hangout-art-session with Alexandra Valenti.
We’ve got some big news coming up in the next few weeks. We’ll announce the next Crummy collaboration and the launch of our first books later this month. You’ll be able to get in on the crafting and art making at the event.
Look forward to the future!
Creation Nation
We were lucky to have great friends come and join us in making these mobile creations during the warm up for What by Whatever 2011. They were very fun to make and the outcome was awesome.
Also, we dropped our first load of zines at Domy in the free pile before the party began. Hopefully, you got to pick one up. If not, we’re planning an official zine launch and BBQ in April. Stay tuned for some details.
